The Sixth Grade Blue Team at Cecil Intermediate organized the food drive for the month of January. This food drive was for their Be the Change service project. Each month a different team does a community service project. This is the second year they have collected for the food bank. This year they collected over 3000 items for the Greater Washington County Food Bank, double what they collected last year!
Food banks are low on food in January after the holidays. Currently, in Washington County, there are an estimated 25,000 people that are food insecure with over 30% of them being children.
Staff and students decided that they could "change" the community for the better by offering a food donation after the holidays! Congratulations to the CIS Sixth Grade Blue Team on a fantastic success with their community service project!
