Sixth graders at NSIS became aerospace engineers and created bottle rockets during their space studies. Students worked through the engineering design process to build background knowledge on rockets; They also drafted blueprints, created the rockets, completed test launches and reflected on all they had accomplished.

Awards were given to each class for the class favorite, the longest flight time, and the highest apogee. Jake Fisher, Jhony Valladares Guerra, and Mila Crawford created a rocket so impressive that it received all three awards (pictured above).
