Dear Canon-McMillan School District Parents/Guardians and Staff,

With the CDC’s recommendation to shorten the COVID-19 quarantine from ten to five days, the Pandemic Team met, discussed and provided the School Board with three options to update Canon-McMillan’s Health and Safety Plan. The School Board voted on: Canon-McMillan School District to remain mask optional, reduce the COVID-19 quarantine from ten to five days and eliminate contact tracing. The updated Health and Safety Plan, the Updated Student Daily Screener and the Updated Flowchart can be found here:

If you are currently quarantining or in isolation based on the prior plan you can apply the new rules.  Simply subtract 5 days from your previously issued 10 days if you are symptom free.  If you have symptoms, you may end isolation after 5 full days if you are fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication and your symptoms are improving. It is recommended you wear a well-fitted mask for 10 full days anytime you are around others. Please refer to the above flowchart for further guidance.

Masking will still be required on all school transportation as it is a Federal Law.

Please be reminded, COVID-19 cases and COVID-19 transmission rates are high in our region and although masks are optional, we encourage everyone to continue to wear them. Guidance, protocols and current conditions are continuously under review and subject to change at any time.  We ask for your patience and understanding as we all work through this together.

Thank you,

Canon-McMillan School District
