Hills Kids of Steel

Kids group picture

We are excited to announce that Hills-Hendersonville Elementary School will be participating in the Kids of Steel Program, part of the Pittsburgh Marathon, for 6 years in a row.  This year's event will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2020.

The school will organize training sessions during school hours twice a month from September through May.  In addition, families will be invited to join the students for training one day a month after school.  The program culminated with the students' participation in the Kids (1 mile) Marathon as part of the events of the Pittsburgh Marathon.  The students will "run" 25.2 miles during training and upon completion of the race downtown, they will have run 26.2 miles, the equivalent of an entire marathon.
