The annual celebration of National Red Ribbon Week will be held October 26-30, 2020 with communities and students across America committing themselves to living drug-free lives. National Red Ribbon Week serves as a tribute to Special agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena of the DEA, who was killed in Mexico by drug traffickers. This tragic event produced an immediate outpouring of grief, but overtime has generated a sense of hope across America. That hope is being kept alive through the hard work of thousands of Americans who participate in Red Ribbon events during the month of October. With more than 150,000 schools and organizations taking part, Red Ribbon Week is the largest anti-drug event in the United States.
Drug prevention information and instruction is built into the curriculum varying by grade level and presented at several different times throughout the year. Mrs. Sohyda, Mr. Hughey and our SRO,Officer Douglass, will be presenting information in your Google Classrooms this year to all grades K- 4 to help reinforce and educate our students on the dangers of drug abuse and addiction.
