Muse Second Grade Student earns Life Saving Award

Nevaeh Ellis receives Life Saving Award

For efforts in the preservation of life, Mayor David H. Rhome and the Canonsburg Council presented Nevaeh Ellis with the Life Saving Award. On January 9, 2019 the Canonsburg Volunteer Fire Department responded to a call in Valley View Terrace. 7 year old Nevaeh was awakened with a sore throat. When she woke her parents to tell them, they realized there was a strong smell of smoke in the house which led them to investigate, finding the source in the laundry room. We commend Nevaeh for her heroic actions in alerting her family. All family members demonstrated their fire prevention skills to "get out and stay out" until the fire department arrives. Tragedy was averted and all are safe.

School Wide Positive Behavior Support Celebration

Our first School Wide Positive Behavior Support Plan celebration was held at the end of November to congratulate those students earning their Power Points for the first nine weeks of school. Students that earned their points and ticket participated in a glow party with glow in the dark activities and black light activities in the gym. There was dancing, glow in the dark bowling, glow in the dark ring toss, and other activities for the students to enjoy. Each grade level had a separate time frame throughout the day to go to the gym and celebrate. The students are looking forward to seeing what's involved for the next reward celebration.

School Resource Officer

We are happy to have Officer Douglass working with us as a School Resource Officer. Officer Douglass is part of the Cecil Township Police Department and is stationed at Muse Elementary. Part of his job includes going into the classrooms with our guidance counselors to teach a variety of lessons to the students. He also helps with arrival and dismissal procedures at the building. You will also see him interacting with students throughout the halls during the day. We are fortunate to have him working in our school.
