We started a very exciting computer science immersion program called Code to the Future, CTTF. When we reflect on the habits of mind and dispositions we wish our children to possess as adults, it is our hope that they leave our schools with the ability to be collaborators, creators, inventors, critical thinkers, artists, and innovators. It is not good enough to simply teach skills and content, rather we need to facilitate learning using various tools and resources that the children can explore. CTTF will help prepare our students for the 21st Century where digital literacy, interpersonal and intrapersonal competencies are a must for individual success. We are committed to collaboratively (staff, administration, parents and students) working to integrate various learning experiences that leverage our students' abilities to create and innovate. We want to continue to create and sustain cultures of learning that embrace design thinking and the ability to be resilient. Embracing a growth mindset that challenges our students to learn from a mistake or iteration empowers them to reflect on their own learning and thinking. This will ultimately provide them with a skill set where they can be successful problem solvers in group and individual situations, while preparing them for jobs of the future. Please look for further communication and opportunities for you to experience what your amazing little people are creating at Wylandville!
