(Pictured: Fifth Graders from Cecil Intermediate passed around some of Mrs. Geists' animals.)
AP Environmental Science, Environmental Science and Zoology teacher at Canon-McMillan High School, Mrs. Geist, brought her animals to Cecil Intermediate on November 21. She organized this presentation with fifth grade teacher Mrs. Farrar. Mrs. Farrar's daughter, who was one of Mrs. Geists' former students, Katie Farrar was also involved in the process. Katie Farrar is studying to be a veterinarian and was home from college for the holiday break so she was able to assist Mrs. Geist in the presentations. Mrs. Geist's daughter, Coral is in the fifth grade at Cecil Intermediate and also assisted with the presentations. Coral has been running animal presentations with Mrs. Geist since she was two years old. She has presented to schools, daycares, nursing homes, and conferences.
Students got to see and learn about the various animal that Mrs. Geist has in her classroom. These animals ranged from the "creepy crawly" animals like scorpions to "slimy animals" like frogs to scaly animals like bearded dragons and more! Students also got to get a picture taken with a bearded dragon and/or a tortoise to send home to their parents!
Special thanks to Mrs. Geist and Mrs. Farrar for working collaboratively and bringing this exciting day to Cecil Intermediate!
