Borland Manor's Third Grade Teacher Mrs. Reda stated,

"Lots of tears were shed in the making of this book, but we are proud and published third grade authors & illustrators at Borland Manor. Thank you School Mate Publishing for making it easy."

She said that this is their fourth year doing this project and has quickly becoming an annual tradition for her classroom as it fits perfectly with the features of a biography and gets the students excited about writing. This year the class interviewed Capt. Mancini and K9 Drago. She selected Captain Mancini because she knew K9 Drago was set to retire.

"This was the hardest book for us to write. They came in for their interview on a Tuesday. Just three days later, Drago suffered a medical emergency and passed away. I made the decision to continue having the class write the book as a way to honor Drago. With today being National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, we couldn’t think of a more perfect day to present it to Capt. Mancini. Capt. Mancini then helped me pass out certificates to each student to congratulate them on becoming published authors. Eat n Park in Belle Vernon also donated blue Smiley cookies for our celebration."

Congratulations to Mrs. Reda's Third Grade Class on becoming published authors!
