According to the United States District Courts of Western District of Pennsylvania's Website, https://www.pawd.uscourts.gov/, Judge Kelly has an impressive background including:
"Since her appointment to the Court in 2011, Judge Kelly has served as one of the judges overseeing the Re-integration into Society Effort (“RISE”) Court. She was also appointed by the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit to serve as co-chair of the newly established Re-entry Committee of the Circuit."
Judge Kelly said she knew Mrs. Carney through her father. Mrs. Carney's father was a prominent lawyer and Judge Kelly's mentor until he retired. Judge Kelly discussed her background, the court systems and some cases she tried. She provided an interactive experience for the students by providing examples of cases and asking what they would have done. She also gave students the opportunity to ask questions. Ms. Carney is so thankful to Judge Kelly for providing this opportunity,
"It was a wonderful opportunity to have a federal judge visit the class and provide real world examples from the courtroom. I am so grateful that Judge Kelly took time out of her day to speak to the students."
Special thanks to Mrs. Carney and Ms. Crago for providing this real-world opportunity for Canon-McMillan's Business Law and Mock Trial Students!
