The Canon-McMillan wrestling program doubled up this weekend. The girls wrestling club was able to win the Western Pa Championship which is roughly equivalent to the WPIAL boys tournament coming up in two weeks. In this event all of the district 7 and 8 teams were invited. 25 teams entered this event and the Lady Macs were able to take first with 236 points, 2nd place went to North Allegheny 139 points, and Connellsville rounded out the top 3 with 80 points.
13 of our wrestlers were able to place at their respective weight classes: Capri Chambers 1st, Valarie Solorio 1st, Madi Mansmann 2nd, Elizabeth Elliott 2nd, Leilani Ramos 1st, Sienna Van Balen 2nd, Hope Carmona 3rd, Grace O'Korn 2nd, Evangeline Gray 2nd, Dynisty Williams 2nd, Paige Ward 2nd, Audrey Calgaro 3rd, Natalie Rush 1st.
The CM girls wrestling club finished their dual meet season undefeated going 7 - 0 with victories over Seneca Valley, Connellsville, Mount Lebanon, North Allegheny, Steubenville, Lexington, and Southmoreland.
Next up for the Lady Macs will be their Western Regional State Qualifier at Kiski Area HS on Sunday, March 5. Top 5 from this will qualify for the State Tournament on Sunday, March 12 at Central Dauphin HS.
