First Graders at Muse Elementary are competing in a "March Madness" reading event to make reading fun. They created brackets similar to the basketball games but the competitors are books. Two books are read to the class and they determine which one the students like best. The winner moves through the brackets (Elite 8, Final Four, and Final) to determine a winner. First Grade invited guest readers like Dr. Taranto (pictured in the album below) and Principal Dziak (also pictured in the album below) for the first round.
Third and fourth graders are also doing their own versions of this March Madness Event. They tied theirs to their curriculum and do some writing with it also, first grade teacher Ms. Wemyss said. Ms. Wemyss is also the one who helped organize this for first grade.
Muse Elementary also created a "Teachers read too- can you guess the reader" wall (pictured below). On this wall there are pictures of different teachers hiding behind different books and students must guess who the teacher is.
