(Pictured: A flyer deescribing the request to wear crazy socks on World Down Syndrome Day.)In honor of World Down Syndrome Day (March 21st, 2023) students and staff at Hills-Hendersonville Elementary followed the tradition to wear mismatched socks. This tradition was designed to showcase the message: chromosomes are just chromosomes just like socks are just socks.

Rebecca Lanius, second grader at Hills-Hendersonville Elementary School has a younger cousin with Down Syndrome and Rebecca is an advocate for her as well as for inclusion. Rebecca presented some information about her cousin and down syndrome to her second grade class. Rebecca also created the flyer (pictured) with her mom.

Mrs. Gough's second grade class honored the day by wearing mismatched socks (pictured below.)
