(Pictured: 2nd graders from Hills-Hendersonville Elementary giving a thumbs up for Chocolate Chip Cookies.)
This week, 2nd graders at Hills-Hendersonville Elementary read stories about the history of voting in Geodes. Students read the story, "A Vote Is a Voice", and were engaged throughout the week in learning how to vote. Teachers created cross-curricular activities to excite and engage students in a class vote between Oreo and Chocolate Chip Cookies. Students went through the entire process from start to finish. From a voter registration card, voting in a mock booth, to graphing the results. Students held a debate and gave speeches prior to voting.
Chocolate Chip won by a landslide!
Special thanks to Mrs. Cummings and Ms. Gough for the great photos below!
