Canon-McMillan Girls Track Team Battled South Fayette and Chartiers Valley for the Section Championship

The Girls track team battled South Fayette and Chartiers Valley for the section championship on Tuesday. They defeated Chartiers Valley 121-29 but lost to South Fayette 74-76 to finish 2nd in the section.   
Rose Kuchera won the long jump, triple jump, high hurdles, and ran on the winning 4x100 relay. Bennett Pidro had 3 second place finishes and also ran on the 4x100 relay. Maggie Clair won the shot put. Olivia Joos placed 2nd in the shot and discus.
Allie West won the 400 and ran on two relays including the 4 x800 relay team of Allie, Elisabeth Franczyk, Morgan Wood, and Addy Yaeger which set a new school record of 9 minutes 50.98 seconds.
Other girls placing in this exciting meet were: Izzy Hagerman, Carly Stewart, Jillian Wadding, Bryce Dean, Abby Mitrik, Elisabeth Franczyk, Addy Yaeger, Erin DeLong, Anna Jaworski, Morgan Wood, Reagan Thomas, Jade Viscardi, Abby Tucker, Lilly Harris, Samantha Hirsch, Adaire Settles, Jenna Gasper, and Anna Mack.
The girls will compete in the Washington-Greene County Championships this Saturday and then begin playoff competition next week.

Pictured: Isaiah Hicks prepares to run the relay for CM Boys track & FieldThe boys track and field team finished 3rd in their section by defeating Chartiers Valley 81 to 69 and losing to South Fayette 63 to 87 yesterday.
Colton Dean had another outstanding meet winning the high hurdles, long jump, 300 hurdles and setting a school record in the 200 meter dash of 22.14 seconds.
Isaiah Hicks won the 100, 400, and ran on two winning relays including an awesome come from behind win in the 4x400 meter relay.
Louis Liberatore won the javelin.
Athletes placing in the meet were:
Spencer Pierce, Tyler Armstead, Joshua Porter, Brayden Dexter, Kaedyn Williams, Aaron Taylor, John Strohecker, Aidan McGee, Digby Bedner, Ben Votodian, Gio Pucillo, Dane Hanley, Jeremy Michrina, Ian Fulton, Malachai Bonner, and Evan Morris.

The boys will defend their Washington-Greene County Championship on Saturday at Big Mac Stadium.
