Canon-Mac Gold Envirothon Team placed first this year in the Washington County Envirothon Competition. The students have been studying wildlife, aquatics, forestry, soils, and climate change topics throughout the year to prepare for this competition. Canon-Mac Gold Team members include: Gia Chambers, JT Markovick, Caitlin Stambaugh, Daniel Skarja, and Nikki Zhang. This team also had the highest score in the current event topic. Canon-Mac Blue team placed fifth in Washington Country and include: Lilly Zhang, Jessica Jost, Tova Wudkwych, McKenzie Heirendt, and Carli Paulhamus. The alternate team placed sixth in Washington County and include: Sadie Rodes, Julie Lukasewicz, and Anna Jaworski. There were two seniors who won an award for being 4-year Envirothon members. Those students are: Gia Chambers and McKenzie Heirendt.

The day the competition took place was also "Take Your Child to Work Day", so Mrs. Geist's daughter, Coral, who is in fifth grade at Cecil Intermediate, was able to attend this competition as the team's "good luck charm".

"I'm very proud of our students and excited to see what the future competitions hold for our team!" Mrs. Geist said.
