Dear Canon-McMillan School District Parents/Guardians and Staff,

The Canon-McMillan School District learned today of additional positive COVID-19 cases in the district. A staff member has tested positive at Borland Manor Elementary, this is their first case. Contact tracing was conducted, individuals identified as close contacts were notified and the DOH has been contacted. Also there is one positive case at the support facility and another is waiting test results while in quarantine. There is the potential for a driver shortage and this could cause the entire district to return to full-remote instruction due to our inability to provide transportation.  This will be a day-to-day decision and the district will alert families if this decision must be made tomorrow morning.

We are taking all recommended steps to ensure the health and safety of our students and staff. Please note, we are performing daily deep cleanings in all District buildings with disinfectant mist machines. As a reminder, anyone experiencing the signs and symptoms of COVID-19 is urged to contact their primary care physician immediately and to notify the school nurse of the child’s building if there is a positive report or exposure to a positive person. For your convenience and information, the Canon-McMillan School District Screening Tool can be accessed on our website, in the Coronavirus Update Center.  It provides detail on signs and symptoms of COVID-19.  It’s also important for us to once again highlight the need for social distancing in public spaces and gatherings, wearing a mask and washing your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds (or use hand sanitizer when soap and water is not readily available).  Please heed the warnings/advisories medical experts are sharing with gatherings of groups and visits to hot spots.

Please visit the PA Department of Health website ( for the latest and most accurate information about COVID-19.  The health and safety of our students and staff is paramount, and we continue to follow all aspects of the District’s health and safety plan at all times.  We thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to navigate through this pandemic.  We will get through this together.

Thank you.
