Skilled Nursing Care Week will take place from May 14-20, 2023. The theme for this year is 'Cultivating Kindness'.

In preparation for this nationally recognized event, Mrs. Smiddle’s 1st grade class participated in an intergenerational activity with the residents of McMurray Hills Manor in McMurray, PA.

The students answered a series of questions about their interests and favorite things.  They applied their phonemic awareness skills to write the answers to each question.  Meanwhile, the residents of McMurray Hills Manor answered the same questions.  In addition to sharing about themselves, the students and residents exchanged kindness kits to each other.  Kindness kits included a handbag, framed photo, journal and pen, and a bag of goodies.

The first graders loved making connections to senior citizens in the community.  Feelings of kindness were embraced from start to finish of this heartwarming project.

A huge thank you to Rita Smiddle, retired Activity Director, of McMurray Hills Manor, for making this project possible and for always spreading kindness in anyway she can.
