Dear Senior Parents/Guardians,
The pandemic has greatly impacted the lives of the Class of 2021. However, we are pleased to announce that we will be able to offer many of our traditional, special moments for this year’s Senior Class.
With the help of the High School Administration, Central Office Administration, and the Pandemic Committee we have been able to work with the Senior Class Officers, and with input from all members of the Senior Class, to safely hold our Scholarship Banquet, Prom, and Graduation.
Scholarship Banquet
The Scholarship Banquet will be held at 6:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 5th at the Hilton Garden Inn located in Southpointe. The members of the Senior Class have opted to limit attendance to this event to students only to ensure it can be held in-person and with proper social distancing procedures in place. A live feed will be shared so that all family members can participate remotely in the event. All presentations will be conducted by school staff in attendance at the event or remotely by a representative of the University/College or the Scholarship Foundation. This event will be free for all students, who have submitted the Scholarship form, to Mrs. Wrubleski in the Guidance Office by Thursday, April 15th.
Prom
To ensure that Graduation can be held as scheduled, Prom will be moved to Monday, June 7th from 6:00-9:00pm at Canonsburg Memorial Stadium. The event will be held rain or shine (under a tent), masks must be worn at all times, and social distancing measures will be in place.
By holding it at the stadium, we are able to have a space large enough to accommodate all members of the Senior Class as well their date. This date MUST be a student who currently attends Canon-McMillan High School. While we know this may be disappointing to some students, they have been aware of this requirement since we started to plan for a Prom and that exceptions cannot be granted. They also know this policy is in line with many neighboring districts as well.
Due to the event being held outside, the dress code will be business casual this year. No jeans, polos, or sneakers will be permitted. We would suggest that students do not wear thin tipped high heels to avoid sinking into the turf.
By holding it on site, we also gain the ability to have a DJ and dance floor as well as some new ideas and traditions. Dinner will be provided by several food trucks and an ice cream truck. We will also have outdoor games and activities for the students to participate in. Also, if the current guidelines permit, we are planning on holding a Grand March at 5:30pm as students and their dates enter the stadium. Information will be shared about this event at a later date.
Graduation:
Graduation will be held as scheduled at 7:00pm on Thursday, June 3rd at Canonsburg Memorial Stadium. In the event of inclement weather, it will be moved to 7:00pm on Friday, June 4th. Attendance will be extremely limited due to current state permitted capacity guidelines and each student will currently be limited to two tickets for guests. If we can increase that number, we will share that information as soon as possible. All attendees must follow social distancing guidelines and wear masks at all times.
We will hold mandatory graduation practices at the stadium at 9:00am on Tuesday, June 1st and Wednesday, June 2nd. A cookout will be held for the Seniors after the practice on June 2nd.
A signed note must be submitted to Mrs. Chipps in the High School Main Office if your student is electing to not walk at Graduation.
The final day to order caps and gowns, via the Jostens website, will be Thursday, April 15th. Caps and gowns will be distributed at practice on Tuesday, June 1st. Any student not walking can make arrangements to pick them up after that date.
The last day for Seniors will be Friday, May 28th. Additional details about the return of materials for remote students will be shared at a later date and time.

We look forward to celebrating these important moments with your student and we are deeply appreciative of your ongoing support and understanding.
Sincerely,
Ken Crowley
