32 Canon-Mac Track and Field Athletes Qualified For and Competed in Last Week's WPIAL Individual Championships

Pictured: This picture is from Wednesday night's WPIAL Individual Championships. Pictured are: Blake Lauper, Justin Egizio, Coach Michael Koot, Trenton Jubin, Chris Davis, and Jadon Rahman at the end of a long but successful Track and Field meet. These young men won the WPIAL mile relay championship, placed 2nd in the 4x100 relay, and all qualified for states in individual events. Please note, no masks were worn because they were around each other for less than 15 minutes for the photo.

32 Canon-Mac athletes qualified for and competed in last week's WPIAL Individual championships.

Top 8 earned a WPIAL medal. and Top 4 earned a trip to next Saturday's State Championship at Shippensburg University.

 

For the girl's team:

  • Haylee Puterbaugh won an 8th place medal in the high hurdles.
  • Chloe Ault just missed a medal by placing 9th in girls Pole Vault.
  • The 4x100 relay of Trista Miller, Bennett Pidro, Jade Clark, and Rose Kuchera placed 8th.
  • The 4x800 relay of Rachel Skoczlas, Elisabeth Franczyk, Addy Yaeger, and Audrey Karwowski place 8th and set a new school record of 9:53.48 !

The Boy's team had 6 individual medalists:

  • Blake Lauper and Jadon Rahman placed 3rd and 4th in the 400 dash.
  • Justin Egizio and Trenton Jubin placed 2nd and 3rd in the 200 dash.
  • Chris Davis placed 3rd in the high hurdles and 6th in the 300 hurdles with a new school record of 40.18 seconds !
  • All 5 of these men will compete again at the State meet.

And capping off the day the 4x100 relay of Davis, Lauper, Jubin. and Egizio won the runner-up award with a new school record 42.79 seconds,

AND the 4x400 relay of Jubin, Rahman, Lauper, and Egizio won the mile relay championship!

In addition to Wednesday's medal winners and state qualifiers the following individuals also competed in Wednesday's WPIAL Individual Championships.

Girls:

  • Chloe Ault:  pole vault 9th
  • Bennett Pidro: long jump 13th
  • Rose Kuchera: 100 hurdles 
  • Audrey Karwowski: 800 15th
  • Elisabeth Franczyk: 400 13th
  • Allie West: Mile Relay


Boys:

  • Malcolm Parkin: 10th high hurdles, 300 hurdles and long jump
  • Tyriek Williams: 13th high hurdles
  • Mason Burgess: 13th Discus
  • Gage McDonough: 21st Discus
  • Matthew Brooks: 12th shot put, 17th Discus
  • 2 Mile relay: Drew McGee, Owen Carter, Matt Thomas, and Jordan Gasper
