Dear Canon-McMillan School District Parents/Guardians and Staff,

There was a Board of School Directors agenda meeting on November 18, 2021. Here are some updates that were mentioned as recognition items:

  • The Pennsylvania Positive Behavior Support (PAPBS) Network  acknowledged that Wylandville Elementary School met criteria for actively maintaining participation in School-Wide (SW PBIS) Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports during the 2020-21 school year.  Wylandville Elementary School was acknowledged at the 2021 Virtual Equity is MTSS, PAPBS Implementers' Forum held on November 10, 2021.

Thank you to everyone who donated the following items:

  • Thomas & Maria Keller for donating $50.00 for district wide Delinquent Cafeteria Accounts for students.

  • Jackie Davis All Clad Metal Crafters for donating $45.00 worth of pots and pans to CIS for their Christmas in the Kitchen Winter Concert.

The November 18 Agenda School Board meeting included a number of updates and reports. District administrators that included: Assistant Superintendent, Mr. Scott Chambers (enrollment update), Director of Human Resources, Mr. Tim McCullough (staffing update), Director of Facilities and Transportation, Mr. Jurdon Maier (construction projects updates and bus/van drivers update), Director of Business and Finance, Ms. Joni Mansmann (Annual Financial Report update, preliminary budget update, Spring sports audit report, and report of presentation at the PASBO Conference), and Director of Special Education Mrs. Becky Lieb (COVID-19 coaches report and Mikayla’s Voice report). 

The November 18 School Board meeting included reports from Student Representatives, Tyler Johnston and Nico Colacito. 

It was also reported that the Jack O Lantern Jog, held at the high school on October 30, 2021, raised nearly $30,000 for student scholarships through the Community Scholarship Foundation of Canonsburg.  The organizers graciously thanked Ken Crowley, Denise Peterson, Karen Rubican, Andrew Sabol and John the custodian for their efforts in helping out.  It was also noted that Muse Elementary School collected enough money to have a scholarship named after them.  And, South Central Elementary School gave a grand prize of gift cards.
