Dear Canon-McMillan School District Parents/Guardians and Staff,

The district is aware that the CDC recently updated their guidance on masking. They are now using a three-tier system (High, Medium, Low) to monitor the levels of COVID-19 in communities. Washington County is currently ranked on the low tier level, as is reflective of the district’s recent COVID-19 dataEffective February 25, 2022, the CDC no longer requires wearing of masks on buses or vans operated by public or private school systems.

As a result, the Pandemic Team met to discuss and update the current Health and Safety plan to reflect these changes. The School Board has approved this new Health and Safety plan in a special voting meeting today. Masking is now optional for all school transportation effective immediately. The revised Health and Safety Plan is forthcoming.

Please be reminded, when COVID-19 cases and transmission rates are high in our region, although masks are optional, we encourage everyone to continue to wear them.

Guidance, protocols and current conditions are continuously under review and subject to change at any time.  We ask for your patience and understanding as we all work through this together. We will continue to keep you informed if the situation should change.

Thank you,

Canon-McMillan School District
