Congratulations to Canon-McMillan Junior Ezmerelda "Ezzie" Schaub for placing first in the "Let's Clear the Air" poster contest. Ezzie won $250, and her art work will be displayed on the PRC website (www.prc.org).
According to their website, the "Let's Clear the Air" poster contest is,
"A collaboration between the Southwest PA Air Quality Partnership and the PA Resources Council, the Let’s Clear the Air Poster Challenge is now in its 12th year. The goal of the Challenge is for students in Southwest PA to learn about the effects of air pollution, how to reduce their exposure, and to encourage action through a poster campaign promoting clean air and alternative transportation.
All schools, public, parochial, and private schools in Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Greene, Indiana, Lawrence, Washington, & Westmoreland counties are eligible to participate.
This year due to the COVID-19 Pandemic and many students having school virtually the contest has made a few changes to make it easier for teachers and students to participate."
Canon-McMillan High School's AP Environmental Science, Environmental Science & Zoology Teacher Mrs. Geist says her Environmental Science class has been learning about different types of pollution all year. She received an e-mail about this competition a few years ago and has her students enter it each spring after they cover air pollution. Students were to create a poster educating the public about air pollution. Mrs. Geist is very proud of Ezzie and her beautiful artwork! Congratulations Ezzie!
