The second annual Battle of the Books Competition between Borland Manor Elementary and Hills-Hendersonville Elementary took place on Thursday, May 19, 2022. The event was held in the afternoon, and a total of 44 students between the two buildings participated. Students were presented with the challenge of reading five assigned books over a six week period. Then, a trivia style competition took place virtually between the two buildings. The format of the competition this year used the learning platform, Kahoot. Students also used a Google Meet to introduce themselves to their peers in the opposite building.
Everyone who participated received a gift bag full of reading related prizes; three grand prize winners from each building were awarded gift cards to Barnes & Noble. While the competition was friendly, students raced to answer each question correctly in hopes of a grand prize. The Battle was presented by Mrs. Bethany West, reading specialist at Borland Manor and Mrs. Rebecca Thompson, librarian at Hills.
