Canonsburg Middle School's Student Government Members organized this activity to help those fighting cancer. The Chemo Comfort Care Totes project was first started by Holly Hallman, a teacher in the Hempfield School District. She was kind enough to welcome Canonsburg Middle School to the program this year to carry out the goals for the project in Washington County.
In October, the students and staff at CMS collected donations during homeroom. Each homeroom collected enough to sponsor at least one tote, some homerooms collected enough to sponsor five totes! 888 students total in the school donated, and members of the student government coordinated and helped pack the totes. The Chemo Comfort Care Totes are filled with things like: blankets, warm socks, crossword puzzles, adult coloring books, stationary, ginger candy, a reusable water bottle, hand sanitizer, lotion, a hat, bookmarks, pens, lip balm, playing cards, an engraved tag saying where the tote was donated from, and a handwritten note from a student at CMS (pictured below).
