“Zoo in the Classroom" is a program that Mrs. Geist, AP Environmental Science, Environmental Science and Zoology teacher at Canon-McMillan High School, developed where her high school students teach younger students from different schools in the district about the animals in her classroom.

Usually this activity involves the high school students teaching elementary students but since the ESY (Extended School Year) program occurs during the summer months, Mrs. Geist had her kids help her in the presentations. Coral (fifth grade at Cecil Intermediate) and Tyde (first grade at Muse Elementary assisted Mrs. Geist in showing the ESY students her animals at South Central Elementary on Monday, July 18 and Canon-McMillan High School on Tuesday, July 19.

“It was really fun to see the students and their teachers excited about each animal and the positive interactions made.”

said Mrs. Geist. Her pictures below certainly show this!
