Gifted Support Services

As per PA Code, mentally gifted refers to outstanding intellectual and creative ability in the development of which requires specially designed programs or support services, or both, not ordinarily provided in the regular education program. Gifted education enables identified students to participate in acceleration or enrichment programs, or both, as appropriate, and to receive services according to their intellectual and academic abilities and needs.

The Canon-McMillan School District is committed to providing quality gifted services to all identified students throughout the district. All gifted support services operated under the guidelines of state (Chapter 16) regulations. Canon-McMillan has procedures in place for the identificaton of mentally gifted which is completed prior to any student receiving gifted support services based on their unique needs.
If you believe your child is in need of gifted support services, please contact your child's school principal.
