Theatre

This hands-on semester course focuses on the fundamentals of theatre throughout the semester. These include creativity, theatre history, acting, voice, movement, monologues, design, play reading, important people in theatre, mime, script work design and improvisation. 

In this year-long course, we expand on the fundamentals of theatre throughout the year. These will include acting, voice, movement, theatre history, Shakespeare, genres, scene work, monologues, script work and improvisation. 

In this course, students will also gain knowledge of children’s theatre and participate in a children’s theatre show as a final project. A one-act entry in the Young Playwrights competition is also a key course component.

 In this College in the High School course, students will focus on acting fundamentals and beyond. These include famous acting techniques, actor preparation, voice techniques, movement, history of performance, Shakespeare, genres, scene work, monologues, script work, writing plays, podcasting and improvisation.

In this course, as a final project, students are required to write and perform a monologue.

Students who take this year-long course work hands-on in all aspects of behind-the-scenes in theatre. They create special effects, they learn lighting design, sound design, operating light & sound boards, set construction, stage crew methods, stage management and more! Students are required to work tech on our children's theatre show.

Theatrical Stagecraft will inspire and empower students to master the art and technology of bringing theatre to life on stage. Through this course, students will foster creativity, collaborate, build theatrical sets and gain technical experience that ignites a lifelong passion for theatre arts. In this 5 Unit course, a focus on careers in theatre will open doors of possibility for each student. 

Drama club is an optional club for students to join that involves monthly activities and/or involvement in all the shows, providing opportunities to explore acting, stage production, and creative expression while building teamwork, confidence and communication skills.

Thespian Society is a theatre honor organization in which students earn points through their participation and achievements in different productions, recognizing their dedication to the performing arts and offering opportunities for leadership and involvement in new theater experiences.
