Registration Questions
Q.) Will students participate in a screening assessment prior to the first day of kindergarten?
A.) Yes, students will participate in a screening in May. You will receive an email with more information and a link to sign up for the screening.
Q.) Where do Kindergarten Screenings occur?
A.) Your child will attend their Kindergarten Screening at the building where they will attend school.
Q.) If we register now, but find our child is not ready before the school year starts, how can we withdraw the student?
A.) Please email register@cmsd.k12.pa.us.
Q.) When will we find out who our child's teacher is?
A.) Parents will receive notification of teacher assignments in August from their child's building principal.
Q.) Is there a Kindergarten Orientation?
A.) Yes, parents will receive communication from their building principal in early August with specific information about orientation.

Bus/Transportation Questions
Q.) How do we find out where the bus will pick up/drop off?
A.) Our transportation department will provide all information about bus schedules and locations before the first day of school. Here is an example of the letter you will receive.
Q.) How is my child's elementary school determined?
A.) Your child's elementary school building will be based on your residence location.
Q.) Does the District provide pick-up and drop-off for kindergarteners?
A.) Transportation for kindergarten students is only one way. For the AM session, the District provides transportation to the school in the morning, and for the PM session, the District provides transportation home from school in the afternoon.
AM/PM Determination
Q.) What are the times for each kindergarten session?
A.) The AM Session runs from 9 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. (Drop off is at 8:25 a.m.)
The PM Session runs from 12:45 p.m. to 3:25 p.m. (Drop off is at 12:30 p.m.)
Q.) Can I choose which session my child will attend?
A.) No, the building principal will assign students to AM or PM kindergarten sessions using established class-size guidelines. Parents will be notified in August.
General Questions
Q.) Are there class size restrictions for kindergarten?
A.) The District strives to maintain primary classes (K-4) at twenty-four students, via Board Policy - 126.
Q.) Do we need to send our child in with lunch/snack?
A.) No.
Q.) Are children given any snacks during the day?
A.) No.
Q.) Can PM kindergarten students eat lunch in school?
A.) No.
Q.) Can students bring a water bottle?
A.) Yes, there are water bottle filling stations.
